  1. What do we do?
Haiti Scholars is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization funded by donors whose mission is to provide educational assistance to students ages 3-11 years at Centre D’Etudes Lumiere in Mariani, Haiti. We currently support scholarships for the neediest children in the area. Our mission is to work in partnership with the teachers and staff to educate the “whole” child for all the students at the school by providing a solid education, emotional support, and proper nutrition. Striving to teach each child the fundamentals in math, reading, grammar, science, physical education, along with computer skills and English as a second language is critical in long term success. Our belief is that having the gift of education brings hope, self-esteem, and empowerment for a better future.

  2. How can I get involved?
We’re always on the lookout for individuals like you wanting to get involved. Visit our How To Help section.

  3. If I were to donate funds, how is my money used?
We have a responsibility to our community and our donors and work hard to ensure long-term sustainability of the organization. We make our IRS Form 990 available for review, as required by law. Visit our Financials page to learn more.

  4. Why should I help Haiti children instead of US children?
Children’s education should be prioritized all around the world, and although we realize that within the US, massive strides need to be made, we have the amazing ability to make huge changes for these immensely underprivileged kids. The lessons of empathy and care created through this opportunity is a lesson to pass onto our own children and own people here. This amazing and vibrant culture needs our support.
  5. What is our privacy policy?
We take our privacy policy seriously and take steps to protect and ensure the safety of our supporters. We do not sell or otherwise disclose information about our volunteers or supporters outside of our immediate organization. This policy has no exceptions. We do not sell or exchange your information with any other organizations, public, private or nonprofit. For more detailed information visit our Privacy Policy page.
