Help Humanitarian Efforts

Since 2019, Haiti Scholars has faced challenges organizing trips due to the prevailing political unrest and escalating gang violence in the region. These circumstances, compounded by the global Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing crisis in Haiti, have prompted Haiti Scholars to adapt and focus on community service initiatives. In collaboration with Pregis, we have made a meaningful impact by distributing Uzima Water Filters. Each student's family now possesses a water filter in their household, and the school itself is equipped with these filters, addressing a fundamental need for clean and safe drinking water.

In addition to addressing water-related concerns, Haiti Scholars has extended its support to the community by providing essential assistance during these challenging times. Our commitment to the well-being of our students and their families is evident through the implementation of various initiatives. We understand the importance of mental well-being, especially in the face of trauma, and have organized "Detrauma Day," a special occasion where students can engage in recreational activities and momentarily escape the distress of daily life.

Recognizing the significance of hygiene in safeguarding public health, we have also set up hand-washing stations to promote proper hygiene practices. We have distributed food kits to those in need to alleviate food scarcity concerns. Moreover, we have distributed hygiene kits to help maintain personal cleanliness and reduce the risk of disease transmission.

Amid adversity, Haiti Scholars remains steadfast in serving the community.

In addition, we have implemented a yearly uniform and backpack drive. All uniforms and backpacks are sewn by local tailors in Haiti. Having a uniform is critical for a child in Haiti.

While external challenges have altered our course, our commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of our students and their families remains unwavering. Through these various initiatives, we strive to contribute to a healthier, safer, and more secure environment for all we support.
