Giving Tuesday 2023 Focus

For many Haitian families, the financial burden makes it impossible to afford annual check-ups for their children. Haiti Scholars, in collaboration with Compassion International, facilitated more than 465 physical exams last year, conducted by dedicated doctors and nurses at an affordable cost.

These comprehensive exams encompassed a thorough assessment from head to toe, including vital components such as blood work, deworming medicine, and vitamin A supplementation. Parents not only received their child's evaluation results, covering the diagnosis and treatment of both acute and chronic conditions but also gained valuable patient education. Additional medications and resources were provided as necessary.

Pastor Valcourt emphasized the significance of these physicals, stating, "The annual medical check-up is a real benefit for children and their parents. Indeed, many of them do not have the chance to see a doctor because a medical check-up is very expensive."

This year, our goal is to support 500 physical exams for $20 each. With 100% allocation, every donation will contribute directly to these crucial health assessments. Furthermore, recognizing the nutritional challenges faced by over 200 malnourished students, we initiated a breakfast program last year, and Giving Tuesday offers an opportunity to support this initiative further.

As Giving Tuesday approaches, we earnestly seek your assistance in several impactful ways:

  • Include our program in your prayers for a successful Giving Tuesday.

  • Please share our posts on social media to expand our outreach.

  • Consider donating to our health programs.

Your support is instrumental in realizing our mission. As we express gratitude for the blessings of Thanksgiving, we extend our heartfelt thanks for keeping Haiti in your thoughts and prayers. In these challenging times, we request prayers for the safety of our students, staff, and teachers in Haiti.
